Promo - "Hushed" and "Glittering Ashes"

This was going to be a spot for one book, but I found two this week that deserve a mention, so here I am. They both happen to be by authors named Kelley - how weird is that?

First, "Hushed" by Kelley York.

He's saved her. He's loved her. He's killed for her.

Eighteen-year-old Archer couldn’t protect his best friend, Vivian, from what happened when they were kids, so he’s never stopped trying to protect her from everything else. It doesn’t matter that Vivian only uses him when hopping from one toxic relationship to another—Archer is always there, waiting to be noticed.

Then along comes Evan, the only person who’s ever cared about Archer without a single string attached. The harder he falls for Evan, the more Archer sees Vivian for the manipulative hot-mess she really is.

But Viv has her hooks in deep, and when she finds out about the murders Archer’s committed and his relationship with Evan, she threatens to turn him in if she doesn’t get what she wants… And what she wants is Evan’s death, and for Archer to forfeit his last chance at redemption.

This description really intrigued me. I like the story idea. It sounds dark and different, and also involves a gay relationship, which doesn't seem to be featured too often in YA.

If you're as intrigued as I am, Kelley is offering an ARC (Advanced Release Copy) over at her site.

Second, "Glittering Ashes" by Kelley Smith.

At seventeen, Roe Daniels didn’t need to believe in fairy tales, she knew they didn’t exist. But when Roe moves to Gaudium Falls to be with her aunt, she finds the elusive friend, a love triangle turned square, and the magic that she would have bet six bucks never existed.

Within a new town Roe doesn’t trust enough to call home, she’ll find a place she knows is too good to get used to and too perfect to trust, and a boy also too close to that description to fall for. She’ll survive the contact with the world that feels so foreign to her and the boy who is big enough to shake that world and her life to its core, or she’ll watch everything she’s just beginning to know and to love burn to glittering ashes at her feet.

Kelley's book can currently be won over at Misty's Book Rat site.

So, how about that? Two cool books, and two competitions where you you could get a copy for free! I must have my helpful hat on today ;).
