Where I'd rather be

As the nights draw in and the temperature drops,  I find myself stepping into the chilly morning air each day with one thought in my mind (besides "I'm cold"): I'd rather be in [somewhere] right now.

Currently, my [somewhere] of choice alternates between the Canary Islands, which I'm told are great for sun and warmth at this time of the year, and New Zealand, which is a country I would love to return to, and they're just heading into their summer, making it doubly desirable.

My parents have previously headed off for cruises to the Caribbean in January - another [somewhere] that appeals courtesy of its sun and warmth. I also know of some people heading off to visit their Time Share in Portugal or their friends in Cyprus, both of which sound warmer to me than England does right now. If my face starts turning the slightest shade of green, you'll know why ;).

So, what about you? Are you enjoying the drop in temperature and seeing your breath appear as mist in the mornings? Or are you, too, dreaming of a warm sunny location to escape to? And where would that escape be?

(N.B. For those of you lucky enough to be heading into summer right now, colour me jealous ;).)

I wish it could stay in the high forties/low fifties permanently. Love it.

I don't mind the cold so much as the short, dark days. OK, the snow, too. Anywhere warm would be great.

I love the snow, but I miss my pool weather. *sob* In only six months I'll be back in the water. *sniff*

I don't mind the cold--I prefer it over temperatures above 85F, at any rate. And I like snow. :P

Joshua: Besides the fact I just had to look up what that temperature is in centigrade (why the UK is part-metric and part everything else, I don't know), that is SO cold! I would be layered up with clothes and have the heating on. I don't know how you do it.

M Pax: I don't like the short, dark days either. It's a little depressing going out in the dark and getting back in it too.

Robyn: I like to see snow, but I don't like to be out in it. Also, you have a pool? I think I live in the wrong country ;).

Eagle: I think I'd prefer the temperatures over 85F ;).

Hi Lalaine :). I'm not in the USA either. I'm in the UK. Usually, we have our fair share of rain, but it hasn't been too bad of late (just wait - now I've said that...). I've never been to the Philippines, but anywhere that has sun bathing or swimming sounds good to me (well, within reason) ;).

I would like to go to New Zealand! I want to visit all of the places where the LOTR movies were filmed.
And don't think I have so many comments I won't notice yours, CD.

Alex: I would go back to New Zealand right now if I had lots of money. I loved it over there! Such beautiful scenery, and an amazing mix of it too.

TF: Yep, I think I'd rather be where you are, just as soon as you persuade your weather it's supposed to be summer ;).
