Bad things that happened to good TV shows

It seems I either get into shows just as something happens to change them, or I start a show that doesn't get to fulfill its potential. Here are a few of those.

  1. Blood Ties - got cancelled and I loved this series. Plus it ended in a very unfinished sort of fashion.
  2. Charmed - Prue dying. Even though the writers had a great premise for introducing Paige, and I don't know what happened between the actresses, I still really missed Prue.
  3. Charmed - Cole. I used to tune in each week just to watch Phoebe and Cole; I thought they were so sweet. They were my absolute favourite couple. Then, it all went to Hell. Literally. And she ended up with someone else? Bah!
  4. Kindred: The Embraced - another cancelled show, and after hardly any episodes. It seemed to have great potential, but didn't get the chance to develop it.
  5. Lois and Clark: New Adventures of Superman - the wedding that wasn't. I'm not too sure what happened here. There were rumours of the network wanting it drawn out, but it resulted in a lot of angry fans, a severe drop in viewers, and some crappy storylines (clones and frogs, anyone?).

Did you think these were bad things? Or did they help the shows? Any others you'd like to add?

I was gutted when they cancelled Blood Ties as I loved loved loved it. The characters worked so well together and the chemistry between Henry and Vicki was electric, plus he was hot so that helped hahahaha.
I also loved Charmed although I never watched it when it was shown on TV My mum and I recently worked our way through all the DVD box sets and I thought it was awesome, although like you I too liked Prue it was a shame her character was killed off :(
I also used to watch a vampire series called Moonlight, I don't know if you have ever seen it or heard of it, but as with Blood Ties they only did one season and just I was getting hooked they dropped it like a hot potato. So what can you say??
I salute you on your choices.x

Yay, another "Blood Ties" fan :). I'm in complete agreement about Henry ;).

I did see "Moonlight", and quite liked it initially, but it seemed to meander down a few too many pathways. It was almost as though it lost its way a bit. At least the final episode had a nice bit of closure though. Well, it made me happy anyway.

This always happens to my favorite shows... it's like someone out there knows I like something, so they kill it off...

I still haven't got over Prue dying either. I just didn't love the show after she was gone.

TF: Yep, I'm with you on that.

Trisha: No, it was never quite the same. And she didn't even feature in the photos on the stairs in the final episode.

Charmed took so many twists and turns I got lost years ago.
I hate it when my favourite TV shows get cancelled, especially when they have a cliffhanger end. (Like The Royal - How could they go that to us?) My Mum is gutted that Number 1 Ladies Detective Agency isn't coming back. And I miss Lark Rise to Candleford.
Also Smallville...that was another series I got so lost in. Why do they make things sooo complicated. Sigh.

I agree about cliffhanger ends. It's so frustrating never knowing what was going to happen. "Smallville" did kind of wind around a bit, but I still really liked it in the end (although I would have changed a few things when wrapping up the Finale).
